The Research Centre for Computer and Law, at the University of Namur, was created in 1979 as an outcome of a conference on ‘Databases, companies and privacy’. Since then, its mission has been to stimulate debate on legal and economic issues linked to Information and Communication Technologies and their use. During these 20 years, CRID has grown, and today comprises a team of around 30 researchers. Its work involves:
- taking part in several University consortia, at both European and international levels
- drafting of legislative texts in Belgium
- drafting recommendations intended for the European Union.
